More Gallileo News
[info]evil_inc_feed

Proving once again the prognosticating powers of this comic, no more than twenty-four hours after yesterday's comic featuring Gallileo in the punchline, some major news on the astronomer surfaces.
[YAHOO NEWS] ROME -- Two fingers and a tooth removed from Galileo Galilei's corpse in a Florentine basilica in the 18th century and given up for lost have been found again and will soon be put on display, an Italian museum director said Friday.

Read the entire piece.

Gallileo, as you may remember, was condemned by the Vatican for saying that the Earth revolved around the Sun. (Not, ahem, vice versa...)

KA-CHING!

I have just paid off my consolidation loan. The only debt I still have is the money on my credit card for the this year's car repairs and the megasofa.

And Now for Some WTF
[info]bec_87rb
Recall, if you will, that I had been hooked on a Silence of the Lambs rip-off television show, filmed in BC. Not that I thought it was good, I just love BC-filmed stuff and Mandy Patenkin gives me glee.

There is a young actor who plays basically a Doogie Houser FBI analyst character, and he has the unenviable job of trying to play "a genius" with a straight face. He has a website:

Welcome to Gublerland

I don't know what I expected, but I found myself laughing and puzzled. Most enjoyable are the finger puppets, I assume created by Mr. Gubler, as those appear to be his hands modeling them.

Oh, man, what fun!

How's Aion?
[info]jackolantern wrote in [info]city_of_heroes
I know that this is OT, but since a number of people who play CoX also have tried Aion (since it's NCSoft), I'd like to know what you think of it so far. I've just gotten to the point that I can afford it, but I noticed that the collector's edition (which is what I'd had my eye on) is now up to $109.99 on Amazon, and also there are some negative reviews (too many spammers, not enough content, crafting takes too long, etc.)

Thoughts?

Who's up for a Nictus beatdown?

I'm hosting a Moonfire TF on Justice @9pm ET/6pm PT.

23-28 level bracket (thank you, Sam-the-smartie), Honorary Peacebringer badge and 32 merits, I believe. Also a good way to earn the Silver Bullet and Slayer badges for your Atlas Medallion!

Meet at the contact starting about 10mins before go time. (Base portal dropoff in Striga is the easiest way. Otherwise, she's atop the rock by Ravenstorm, the trainer.) I'll be on Khamsin Tekk, level 30 WP/Fire Tanker.

Hope to see you there!

Name Help

ARGH. I hate my new character's name. I'm going to have to reroll him before next week. I need ideas!!

Traps/Psychic, origin Natural. Basic idea is he was press-ganged into the Arachnos training system but got out after getting his natural psychic zapping potential awakened. The Traps powerset is of course just gear, possibly swiped from Arachnos. Conceptually I'm getting a kind of spy or assassin vibe.

Does anyone remember the name of the aeronautics company that supplied the sky raiders with gear but is actually a front for Nemesis (or is it Malta?) The Titan network is down apparently and with it the CoH wiki. I was thinking of using an Arachnos style name like "Operative Lockwood" or something like that.

I am SO easily pleased.

This morning I couldn't find my Isotoner driving gloves, which are really old and kind of falling apart. I figured they were in the car, but maybe left at work. I decided rather than have cold hands either way, I'd grab the heavy winter gloves from my dresser. However, when I started digging them out I found a brand new pair of Isotoner driving gloves. Apparently I bought spares last year and forgot them. But it's like Christmas!!

I told you I was easily pleased.

Courting Disaster: Nov. 20, 2008
[info]evil_inc_feed

Courting Disaster, my weekly comic about sex, love, and relationships updates every Friday. You'll laugh your pants off.

This week's question...

A reader writes... Q: Why is it that people totally ignore another person's wishes? For example -- If I say I'm interested in dating only and not looking for a relationship, why would a woman agree to date me if she's looking for more?

Don't answer here... go on over to the CD site and offer some advice.

Sometimes it just takes a little push...
[info]alessar
Yes, you know that icon, it's a DDR post!

It's been ... months ... but I am pleased to say I did 40 minutes of DDRX at 4-5 difficulty. Just normal gameplay. I managed to even clear 2 trick/challenge songs. Overall I feel pretty good. My knees have been very creaky lately so I really did not want to overdo it, but I really needed the metabolic boost. Ooops, forgot to check heart rate. Well, elevated but not crazy high will have to do.

The little push? As I was coming back in from carrying out the trash and ended up having a chat with one of my neighbors and we ended up discussing videogames and DDR briefly. It made me think, "yeah, why not make TODAY the day you resume playing this?"

LiveJournal Major Notes: Postcard winners, Tweaks, LJ_Cares

Postcard winners!

We wish to extend our heartfelt gratitude for sending so much joy our way. Frank is still blushing with excitement over the love notes, proposals, propositions, and occasional intimate photos sent from his admirers around the world (China, Norway, Japan, and Poland just this week)! At his request, we blindfolded Justin, one of Frank's BFFs, spun him around in five dozen counterclockwise circles, and asked him to point to ten random postcards/envelopes pasted to the wall. After a brief trip to the bathroom, he chose the following lucky winners, to whom we will give a six-month paid account token (for paid, basic, and plus users) or, for our permanent account holders, a $15 voucher for the LiveJournal gift shop.

So, without further ado, the winners are:
